Danniella portrayed Sam Mitchell on EastEnders On and Off from 1990 to 2016.
She was replaced by Kim Medcalf, who is currently playing the role? of the beloved character.
danniella, who has been open and honest about her past addiction problems, told today how she is “happier than ever” after quitting drugs.
The former actress, who will soon be turning 50, told This Morning hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary: “I’m glad I’m alive after all I’ve done to myself.
“I’m waiting to become a nanny, hopefully. I’m just so happy with this chapter I’m in. I’m just happy with who I am and I had to learn that.’
She explained how she has a “wonderful therapist” and attends 12 Steps meetings for free, telling viewers, “You don’t have to go to rehab. They’re just going to detox you, you have to go to a meeting.’
Danniella explained how she supports others with addiction problems, guiding them to their closest encounters and sometimes connecting with those who guide them on their behalf.
The soap star then gave a sweet response to Alison who questioned her about her love life.
She shared: I’m in love with myself for the first time, Alison. I’m with someone, but I’m just happy, happy with who I am.’
Those who tuned in at home were happy to see Danniella happy and took to social media to respond to the raucous interview.
