Chris Martin discovered a Ukrainian refugee busking in Poland and invited him on stage for the opportunity of a lifetime.
Roman Panchenko fled his homeland and moved to Warsaw in Poland, where the cold play frontman heard him play his guitar on the city streets.
In amazing scenes posted on social media, Martin, 45, spotted the talented musician and asked if he would like to perform with him at a sold-out Coldplay gig in Warsaw.
The 26-year-old musician shared the surreal experience TikTok including footage of him backstage, before joining the performer with his guitar for a duet with the superstars.
The stadium fell silent as the duo gave an emotional performance of the Ukrainian song “Obijmy,” meaning “hug me.”
Panchenko proudly tied a Ukrainian flag like a cape around his neck before taking it on stage.
The heartwarming moment has also boosted the young artist’s career and given him more publicity for his music as the video has now reached more than 2 million views on TikTok.
It is not the first time in recent weeks that the Yellow singer gives a surprisingly improvised performance.
Hours after the father-of-two finished his headliner set at Glastonbury, he was… spotted playing for the locals in a pub in Somerset†
On his way home from a wild weekend, the musician went to The Staff Inn in Hinton Charterhouse for lunch with his long-term girlfriend Dakota Johnson, 32.
After talking to the landlord, Martin learned that the owner was getting married and that his first dance would be to the band’s hit song, Sky Full of Stars.
Martin sat down and began playing the pub piano for the pair, described by the owner as ‘surreal’ and who had heard ‘nothing comparable’.
Coldplay are currently on their European tour and will be performing in London in August.
