Cat finally caught after three weeks wandering around a US airport | World | News

The four-year-old pet has been dodging airport staff, airline workers and animal experts at Boston’s Logan International Airport since she escaped her cage to hunt for some birds. She had been missing since landing with one of her owners in Boston last month when the family returned to the US from Germany, where they had lived for 15 years.

An airport spokeswoman said: “Whether it’s fatigue or hunger, we’ll never know, but this morning she finally had herself caught.”

The black cat with green eyes has had a health check and is now ready to return to her family.

Her owner Patty Sahli said: “I’m a bit in disbelief.

‘I thought, what are the chances that we will actually get her back?

“But I got a call this morning and I’m just so shocked.”

She added: “It was such a community effort. We are so grateful to everyone who helped with the search.”

Rowdy’s escape took place on June 24 after Ms. Sahli and her husband Rich returned to the US after spending 15 years in Germany.

When their Lufthansa flight landed, the cat ran out of her cage to try and catch some birds.

Massport, the agency that operates the airport, said in a statement: “True to her name, this playful feline escaped from her cat kennel upon the arrival of her Lufthansa flight on June 24 and had been roaming the airport ever since.

“Whether it’s fatigue or hunger, we’ll never know, but this morning she finally got caught.”
