Alex Gray and Tom Elderfield rocked The Traitors contestants as they revealed their secret relationship in dramatic scenes.
The pair entered the Scottish Highlands castle on the BBC mystery show as Faithfuls, but decided, at least initially, to pretend to be strangers.
Presented by Claudia Winklemanthe series has taken the country by storm as viewers eagerly tune in to find out who the traitors have decided to ‘kill’, while the Faithfuls scramble desperately to ‘banish’ the impostors.
There’s been underhandedness, with traitors Amanda and Wilfred turning on Alyssa, tears and lies, with one of the biggest zingers (other than Amanda’s Oscar-winning performance as a Faithful) being Alex and Tom’s romance.
The magician and 26-year-old Alex decided to keep it quiet because they believed it would hurt their chances of winning over their fellow believers.
The presenter and actor explained in the first episode: “We’re going to keep that top secret because if anyone sees we’re in an alliance it would be awful, so I’ve been flirting with Matt a little bit, so it’s sort of throwing bait elsewhere.”
Ah yes, poor Matt, because while trying to mislead the contestants, Alex got cozy with Matt, who couldn’t fathom how much he loved her, at one point declaring her his ‘future wife’.
But unfortunately during a very exciting scenewhen the cast started to turn on Alex, Tom, 24, couldn’t take it anymore and their relationship exploded.
“Straight guys, this is a lot,” he said, telling everyone at breakfast, “Obviously we have three people on the phone here, I love you all, Alex is not a traitor, she is my girlfriend.”
The rest of the group – especially Matt, who bursts into tears – was in shock and continues to question the couple’s credibility, eventually deciding to ‘banish’ Tom from the castle.
But are the couple still together months after filming the addictive series?
Tom, from Buckinghamshire, revealed that they are indeed still going strong, although Alex has to fend off admirers in her DMs.
Tom explained to the RadioTimes. com: ‘Everyone said that! She gets so many DMs from so many guys! There’s been a DM who said, “Ah, you and Matt are such a better couple than you and Tom,” and it actually gives me so much clarity that people back home actually have no idea about us. It makes me a little happier that they say this.
“But non-stop everyone is asking, ‘Are you guys still together? Are you still together?” And we are – but we always have been. We’ve had worse.’
Tom also said he wasn’t too worried about seeing Matt flirt with Alex as he was “used to seeing it” IRL.
He continued, “Obviously he’s gorgeous, I’m happy to say how gorgeous he and Aaron are. Those two are both fit. It is so hard. But in the end I trust her. We go out on nights – don’t you think she gets spanked? I’m so used to seeing it. But I am very comfortable in our relationship, we are both very comfortable and both very confident.
“So therefore, if one of us was a traitor and one of us was a believer, I would have a hard time believing that we couldn’t read it from each other. We know each other so well.’
