Walter Deveraux (Trevor A Toussaint) has returned emotionally and unannounced to… hollyoaksout of sight after almost a year.
The popular character made his secret comeback in the first edition of Thursday (July 14) of the Channel 4 soap opera, while surprising DeMarcus Westwood (Trevor A Toussaint) for his 16th birthday.
DeMarcus wasn’t the only one happy to see Walter, though, as Pearl Anderson (Dawn Hope) was overjoyed to set her sights on her old boyfriend, and she wasted little time hugging him.
Pearl joked that she missed “old man” Walter as much as a “hole in the head,” but it was clear she was glad to see him back in the village of the same name.
“When I tell you about some of the adventures I’ve had, you won’t think I’m old anymore!” Walter joked, leaving Pearl laughing.
The returnee then joined Pearl for a dance in the living room.
Walter was last seen in September 2021, during the Channel 4 soap’s groundbreaking Black To Front episode.
Upon his departure, he tasked Pearl – who made her debut during the series drama’s special outing – to care for his family during his absence, and it’s safe to say she did just that!
DeMarcus, meanwhile, struggles with the attack carried out on him a few weeks ago by newcomer Joseph (Olly Rhodes), who then terrorized him.
When offering the series on Thursday, Joseph forced DeMarcus to shoot a video in which he was ordered to label himself as “a waste of space.”
Hollyoaks continues Friday, July 15 at 7 p.m. on E4, or stream the next episode on All4 from midnight.
