UK weather maps show where and when months of snow chaos will hit the country | Weather | News

The last maps with weather forecasts on WXCharts show sub-zero temperatures blanketing the entire country for the next week. The northern half of Britain will bear the brunt of the snowy weather, according to the latest forecast maps. Temperatures could drop to -13C next Thursday as snow flurries begin to drift across much of the country.

Despite the dramatic drop in temperatures next week, most of the UK will be denied a white Christmas this weekend, according to the Met Office.

Due to the mild weather of recent times, the Scottish Highlands will be the only part of the UK likely to see snow at Christmas.

After Christmas, however, the mild temperatures will give way to an Arctic explosion.

Before the snow comes, temperatures drop back to freezing.

Maps on WXCharts warn that snow could hit parts of the country on Boxing Day.

The maps show snow in eastern Scotland, while freezing rain turns to snow in the north east and north west of England.

This could include both Manchester and Newcastle on Monday.

According to the maps, up to 1 cm of snow can fall every hour.

Snow is expected to fall in Northern Ireland and Northern England next week on the day before New Year’s Eve.

Mr Maden told GB News: “Temperatures will drop in the run up to Christmas.

“This could put the risk of snowfall in parts of the country, some of which could drop to lower levels.

“The rest of December and January show signs of frequent spells of cold winter weather with below average temperatures and numerous winter gusts.

“We could now be looking at a long cold stretch of several weeks and the potential for some of the coldest and snowiest weather since December 2010.”

Madden predicts that the third weekend in January will be the height of the upcoming winter storm.
