A woman was injured in a shooting in Brooklyn, New York, while lying in her own bed, authorities say.

The 37-year-old was at her home in the Crown Heights neighborhood when police said she was shot at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

Her husband was downstairs watching a movie at the time of the incident, ABC7 New York turned himself in and told police he heard a loud bang upstairs.

The woman, who has not been identified, said she awoke suddenly from the pain and realized she had been shot in the middle and ring fingers of her left hand.

She was in her bed when the bullet came through her window in a building between Pacific and Dean Street, according to… News12.

Her husband said she came down screaming with blood all over her hand. The couple’s three children were asleep.

Police were called to the address when the woman noticed a bullet-sized hole in her bedroom window, leading to suspicions of a shooting. ABC New York reported.

She was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition and will undergo surgery next week. Her injuries were reported as broken fingers.

Police are investigating and it is not clear what caused the shooting. A single shell casing was found outside the house, but no further evidence or suspects were found.

According to reports, the incident was the latest in a series of nighttime shootings in New York City, after four people were killed on Tuesday evening and early Wednesday morning.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced $13.6 million in new gun violence prevention spending on Thursday, with more than $9 million going to nonprofits and hospitals working on gun violence intervention.

Police figures from last month show that New York City’s homicide rate is down 31 percent from the same period last year, though concerns over gun crime remain high.
