Woody Harrelson in talks with lead role in Lionsgate musical ‘Sailing’ – The Hollywood Reporter

Lionsgate has revealed plans for the musical comedy hunt rock The sailing, of Woody Harrelson talking to star.

The musical jukebox comedy follows the trials and tribulations of a group of 1970s musicians who discover the mellow sounds and lifestyle of yacht rock. At that time, the soft rock music genre dominated FM radio.

Harrelson recently starred in Venom: Let There Be Carnage. His upcoming work includes: The man from Torontoopposite Kevin Hart, and the HBO TV series The White House plumbers. Chris D’Arienzo, creator of the Broadway musical Rock of Agessold the field for The sailing along with Jeremy Plager, who will develop and produce alongside MegaMix (Jonathan Levine and Gillian Bohrer) and Harrelson.

“We’re excited to be working with Jeremy, Jonathan, Gillian, Chris and Woody, and we’re confident it will not only have a phenomenal soundtrack, but also get you in a summer mood,” said Lionsgate, president of production Erin Westerman said about the nostalgic musical comedy.

Meredith Wieck and Jon Humphrey will oversee the project for Lionsgate. Bonnie Stylides negotiated the deals on behalf of the studio.
