“Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with serious mental health issues,” Martin’s attorney, Marty Singer, told the American outlet Deadline.
“Ricky Martin, of course, has never – and never would have been – involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his cousin.
“The idea isn’t just false, it’s disgusting.”
Singer added: “We all hope this man gets the help he so desperately needs.
“But above all, we look forward to this horrific case being dropped as soon as a judge can look at the facts.”
Martin responded to the original injunction, writing in a statement: “The protection order issued against me is based on completely false allegations, so I will respond through the judicial process with the facts and dignity that characterize me.
“As it is an ongoing legal matter, I cannot make any detailed statements at this time.
“I am grateful for the countless messages of solidarity and I receive them with all my heart.”
