meet police officer was discharged from the force after being convicted of cocaine possession.
A hearing on misconduct was held on July 1. After the hearing, Detective Sergeant Wayne Stanley, 41, who was associated with Met Operations Command, was fired without notice.
Commander of Met Operations, Detective Chief Inspector Paul Trevers, said: “This officer’s disappointing actions fell far short of the values and standards we aspire to.
“Our communities deserve the best from their police officers and this kind of behavior has no place at all at the Met. Our professional standards team will continue to weed out those who disappoint us and make sure they are held accountable.”
On December 28, 2019, Stanley joined Surrey Police colleagues at a residential address. At the scene, officers saw a small package fall from Stanley’s pocket.
It was later found that the package contained cocaine. Stanley was charged with possession of cocaine on 26 April 2021 following an investigation by Surrey Police.
He was fined £750 by Guildford Crown Court on 20 May 2022 and ordered to pay £2,250 in costs.
Stanley was given limited duties after he was arrested and remained as such until his discharge.
