WILLIAM SALIBA is reportedly set for his second Arsenal debut TWO YEARS after his last first-team appearance.

The 21-year-old has not played for the Gunners under Mikel Arteta since the game 4-1 pre-season win against MK Dons in 2020.

He has yet to appear in a competitive match for the North London outfit since arriving from Saint-Etienne in a £27m deal in 2019.

Since his transfer saliba has enjoyed three loan spells with the Emirates, returning to St-Etienne before impressing in Nice and Marseille.

Arsenal academy chief Per Mertesacker has urged Arteta to give Saliba a chance next season after recently being named the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year.

It is alleged that the central defender open for a permanent move if he fails to guarantee a starting place for the next term.
