A woman has been killed and a man has suffered life-changing injuries after being attacked by a dog, police said.

The incident took place in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, around 10pm last night, and the 43-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

South Yorkshire Police said a 42-year-old man was rushed to hospital with a potentially life-changing hand injury.

He also suffered injuries to his hand, abdomen and face in the attack, police said.

Two dogs were seized by officers and removed from the property.

South Yorkshire Police said neither are considered ‘prohibited breeds’ under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.
