Woman dies and man sustains ‘possibly life-changing injury’ after attack by dog

woman has died and a man has a “potentially life-changing injury” after a dog attacked them in South Yorkshire on fridaynight.

Law enforcement were called to a building in Masefield Road, in the village of West Melton, Rotherhamat about 10:15 p.m. by a man who said a dog had attacked him and a woman.

The woman, 43, was fatally bitten and died at the scene.

Neither dog was of a forbidden breed

The man, 42, was taken to hospital after suffering a potentially life-changing injury to one hand and wounds to his other hand, abdomen and face.

A South Yorkshire Police A spokesperson said: “The woman, 43, was fatally bitten and, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“The dog, plus another dog on the property, were secured by specially trained officers. Neither dog was of a prohibited breed.”
