Metallica’s Master Of Puppets Sees Huge Resurgence In Popularity After Being Used On The Latest Season Of Stranger Things: ‘It’s An Incredible Honor’

Metallica’s 1986 song Master Of Puppets has seen a massive resurgence in popularity due to its use in the most recent season of Weird stuff.

The song, which was released on the album of the same name, was featured in a pivotal scene in the season four finale, in which Eddie Munson, Joseph Quinn’s character, distracts demo bats by rocking guitar to the song.

According to Deadlinethe popularity of the single resulted in it receiving 17 million streams on Spotify in recent weeks, and it’s poised to return to the UK charts.

The outlet also pointed out that Metallica’s guitarist Kirk Hammett, bassist Robert Trujillo and his son Tye have all “recorded additional guitar tracks for the version of the song appearing on the show.”

Master of Puppets received critical acclaim upon initial release, peaking at number 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The song was previously used in films such as Old School and Zombieland: Double Tap.

The second part of the fourth season of Stranger Things came out earlier this month and after the debut, the band posted a statement on Instagram expressing their feelings about using their track.

The heavy metal pillars then admitted that several of their fans discovered the song was on the show before the second part of the season was released.

Master of Puppets has also made its way back onto the charts and is currently at the number 40 position on the Billboard Hot 100 card.

The band also showed their support for the show’s release with a video shared with their TikTok account, in which they all wore Hellfire Club shirts while playing the song.

Master Of Puppets isn’t the only song featured in the latest season of Stranger Things to get a recent boost in popularity, as Kate Bush’s 1985 song Running Up That Hill featured prominently in the series of episodes.

The hit was used to take Sadie Sink’s character Max out of the Upside Down in a scene that took place in the fourth episode of the season.

The critically acclaimed song was subsequently heavily used in several other episodes.

Running Up That Hill saw a huge boost in popularity after the release of the new season, and it currently sits at the third highest spot on the Hot 100 chart.
