Porsche is meeting the growing popularity of electric vehicles with several offerings, including the Taycan sports sedanupcoming Macan EV, and the oft-promised electric Cayman. But the bigger expansion is the brand’s development of a dedicated charging ecosystem to address Tesla and its Supercharger network.
It’s a two-pronged attack. First, there is a plan for what Porsche calls Destination Charging Stations. These are charging stations that are placed at points of interest for the P-car faithful. Places like international airports, swanky hotels and culturally relevant museums where Porsche EV drivers can recharge their batteries while doing their high-society/high dwell time things. Porsche already has 2,700 such locations in Europe.

Second, the company plans to develop a more customized, high-performance charging network that will target their more upscale customers. These “premium channels” will follow in the footsteps of Audi’s dedicated charging hubsand provide amenities such as work environments and refreshments, “which bring a touch of sophistication to the otherwise simple process of charging your car.”
Furthermore, dealers in Romania have started installing more of the “TurbochargerDC fast chargers were first shown last year. This allows customers to charge their vehicles much faster than most European charging networks by taking advantage of the cars’ 800-volt charging capabilities. “The fast Porsche Turbo Charger charging point was developed by Porsche Engineering and sets new standards in charging time,” reads the official release. “Depending on the vehicle model, up to 100 kilometers can be charged in just five minutes.
There are also solar panels that double as shelter for parked EVs. So far there are only six, but more should be added over the course of the year as dealers begin to build out their networks. Adrian Pascu, director at Importer Porschesaid: “We [the dealers] expects that 50% of the cars shipped worldwide will be partially or fully electric by 2025 – more than 80% by the end of the decade. Having an adequate charging infrastructure is an essential part of our strategy.”
