Stabbing, king hit and attack in Hamilton at night

One man was stabbed, another “knocked” and a third was attacked overnight in Hamilton.

An 18-year-old local man was stabbed in the chest during an incident near Hood Street, according to a statement from Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Patterson.

The man is said to be in a stable condition at Waikato Hospital.

Police believe the stabbing was linked to a number of attacks and fights that took place in the Market Place area around 2:25 am.

A second man was left unconscious after he was beaten in what police described as a “king hit” and kicked to the ground, Patterson said.

A third man was also assaulted.

An 18-year-old Hamilton man was arrested on charges related to the stabbing and the other assaults.

He was due to appear in Hamilton court on Monday.

“We are determined to identify and hold to account all those involved in last night’s events,” Patterson said.

“Police are aware that this incident may have been recorded by bystanders and are requesting their assistance as part of the investigation.”
