“I’m sweating when I see him add those layers!” People scoff at M&S videos on how to cool your bed for heat wave nights – because it includes the use of a BLANKET, duvet and extra pillows!
- M&S video explaining how to make a bed in the heatwave is being ridiculed online
- Video urges people to keep a cool head with a sheet, duvet, plaid and extra pillows
- One said the shopping giant’s tips were more in line with winter
Posted a video on MRSInstagram account advising people on how to make their beds cooler ahead of this week’s record-breaking heat wave in Britain has been ridiculed online – for using a blanket, duvet and extra pillows.
The video on Instagram advises people to use 100% linen bedding as it ‘helps regulate body temperature’. It also urges people to use a “comfortable cool fitted sheet” and then “layer on” with a flat sheet.
So far so good, but then it encourages people to ‘add a duvet’ for when the temperature drops in the middle of the night and to ‘clos off’ with a selection of pillows and throws.
Temperatures in the UK are expected to rise to 30 degrees at night on Monday and Tuesday.
Fail: The much-discussed M&S video, posted two days ago, shows a man with an American accent teaching people how to make a bed for the upcoming mini heat wave
The man advises viewers to choose linen bedding that helps regulate body temperature – but then the video takes a more unusual turn
Most people kick down their duvets to sleep, but M&S recommends keeping one on…
Many mocked the video widely, unimpressed that M&S tried to sell bedding after a heat wave
Others said they broke out in sweat just thinking about so many layers. Temperatures of 40 degrees are expected in some parts of England on Monday night
Not cool enough yet? Then why not add a throw and some pillows to see if they will cool you down?
But the video, posted under the tagline ‘Trouble sleeping on the balmy summer nights?’ ridiculed online.
One user, @alixxpoo, wrote: ‘Cool bedding on my behind!! You couldn’t put on more bedding if it was winter.’
Another @lannerrach wrote: ‘I’m just sweating when I see him add all those layers of bedding!’
Jokingly, @lmjakob replied, “I really thought he was going to throw that duvet on the floor,” while lisacrow92 commented: “Thanks, but I’m just going to starfish on the duvet.”
Another, @emmalouiserobins, wrote: ‘Why wear so many layers in a bloody heat wave?!’
While another commented, “That’s too much for a normal night, let alone expect a 39-degree heat wave.”
The finished bed with its throw and pillows – what could be cooler?
Some thought the video was going to be a spoof – in fact it was serious
For those women who are going through menopause and experiencing hot flashes, the idea of all this bedding was torture
This woman commented that the bedding was way too much for these temperatures
Another thought the serious video should be a comedy skit
Some also criticized the way the man in the video had made the bed.
A user called this_veteran_can wrote: ‘Let me know if you need someone who can do ‘Hospital Corners’ because unless you use a fitted sheet everything else just looks filthy when it’s in there.”
Another eva_elite_life wrote: ‘My nurse brain looks at the folds in the corners.’
But not everyone made fun of the video, which received 5,160 likes.
One @jojowright71 said: ‘Watching this makes me happy.’
While others were also really impressed by the man’s bed-making skills.
@mrstaffam wrote: ‘Can he please teach my husband how to make the bed too?!’
While @laura_renovating_no66 wrote @_hanr0se: ‘Where do you find a man who can make the bed like that.’
