It also shows the “medically accurate” virtual patient and equipment.

Until now, only a hologram with ‘respiratory problems’ exists, but experts are developing simulations for heart and brain diseases.

Inventors say the training is “safe to fail” because no one is at risk, and it’s cheaper and easier to use than actor patients.

Professor Sir Stephen Powis, Medical Director of NHS England, said: “This unique development could enhance the learning experience of our next generation of doctors, nurses and health professionals.”

The technology is being used at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

It is being developed by the University of Cambridge and LA-based technology company GigXR.
