British tourist, 53, ‘drows at Mallorca hotel pool after passing out while swimming’

A British tourist is reported to have drowned in a hotel swimming pool in the Majorcan resort of Palmanova today.
The 53-year-old man is said to have died this afternoon (Sunday, July 17) after he passed out while swimming in the swimming pool of the Globales Palmanova Hotel.
The alarm was raised at about 4.30 pm today, but he has already stopped responding.

The Majorcan emergency services tried to resuscitate the man, but unfortunately he was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident
Globales Palmanova is just a short walk from the party resort of Magaluf, one of the island’s most popular destinations
Police and paramedics tried to resuscitate him after they arrived and took over from lifeguards, but were unable to save him.
He was pronounced dead before his body was taken for an autopsy.
Civil Guard agents are now conducting a routine investigation and will prepare a report for a local judge.
It is not known whether the deceased man was alone or accompanied by family or friends at the time. He is not mentioned.
Police could not be reached to make a statement.
