RISHI Sunak says he has a plan to make a new deal that will solve the Northern Ireland Protocol.
Maybe the PM becomes a wizard and conjures a rabbit out of the hat.
But I don’t think there are rabbits – or even a hat to pull them off.
If his plan involves following part of the protocol, DUP won’t go back to power sharing. It’s that simple.
It would be puzzling for a prime minister to spend so much political capital, at the risk of mutinying his MPs, if it doesn’t restore power-sharing.
We are approaching the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.
But we shouldn’t rush a deal to meet a deadline.
This is about who rules, who makes the laws: us or the EU?
There should be no surrender.
