Fight fans will hope it’s a case of third time luck then Jake Paul and Tommy Fury finally meet this sunday.
The fight was initially scheduled for December 2021, but Fury had to pull out due to injury. A rescheduled date last year also proved a non-starter when Fury was denied entry to the United States.
The leading up to this fight was also tricky, with Fury not showing up for a recent press conference, leaving Paul to face Derek Chisora instead. Fury’s promoter George Warren was in Saudi Arabia on his behalf and said Fury had remained in the UK to deal with a “personal and private matter”.
The WBC, one of the ranking organizations that organize boxing, has said it will give Paul an official world ranking in the cruiserweight division if he manages to beat Fury. Theoretically, that’s the first step in putting Paul in contention for a world title.
“Jake has a dedication and respect for the sport,” said a WBC spokesman. “The WBC will not tolerate discrimination against anyone, he deserves the odds every other boxer has. He showed punching power and improved skills as well as a solid chin.”

Who are both fighters and what is their record?
Tommy ‘TNT’ Fury is the half-brother of former world heavyweight champion Tyson. He is undefeated in eight fights at cruiserweight, four of which were won by knockout.
American Jake Paul rose to prominence as a social media personality and has since dabbled in both popular music and mixed martial arts.
He has turned his hand to professional boxing, earning the nickname “Problem Child,” and has won all six of his fights. However, taking on Fury will likely be a significant step up in the class.
