Officials have detained a suspect at the Oriental Mandarin hotel on Maryland Ave and there is no active threat at this time, police told the Sun.
Firefighters called police for help after the incident began, WUSA9 reported.
There have been reports of fire and a possible shooting.
Law enforcement confirmed to a reporter on the ground that a person is in crisis.
The public information office told the Sun that one person was detained at the scene.
Officials said there is no active threat and the incident is under investigation.
The Oriental Mandarin hotel is located near the Capitol.
