IN a shocking turn of events, Congresswoman Lee Zeldin was reportedly assaulted during a campaign speech.

A man allegedly stepped on stage, started screaming and “struggled him a bit and pulled out a knife,” witnesses said. Pix11.

Michael Henry, who is running for New York State Attorney General, responded to this event in a Tweet:

“Violent crime is everywhere in our state and we will continue to fight to restore security in New York,” he said.

Zeldin, a Republican candidate for governor of New York State, gave a speech in Perinton on Thursday.

The speech was on bail reform at the Veterans of Foreign Wars center.

AMVETS National Director Joe Chenelly was eventually able to stop the alleged attacker.

According to another witness statement, Zeldin was not injured and eventually ended up back on stage.

Monroe County Police Department responded to the incident.
