Lewis Hamilton has posted a series of excellent messages online to address racism from former F1 World Champion Nelson Piquet.

The Seven-Time World Champion, the most successful driver in F1 history, has fought horrific racism throughout his racing career from whisker fans and senior sports figures.

In an interview recorded last November, Pique used a Portuguese word translated into English as a vulgar “n-word” racist term, but only on Brazilian television on Monday night. it was done.

At the British Grand Prix at Silverstone last year, he was discussing the incident between Hamilton and Red Bull driver Max Verstappen. In this case, the pair took the lead in the Cops corner and Verstappen slammed into the barrier at high speed.

Hamilton embarked on a sneaky tilade containing shameful racist language after his daughter Kelly was blamed for its image by Pique, who has been dating Verstappen for years.

Both Formula 1 and Hamilton’s Mercedes team blamed Piqué’s comments. “Discriminatory or racist language is not accepted in any way and is not involved in society,” F1 said in a statement released Tuesday.

“Lewis is a great ambassador for our sport and deserves respect. His tireless efforts to increase diversity and inclusion are a lesson for many and we are working on in F1. That is.

Meanwhile, Mercedes backed up their drivers with their own statement.

We condemn the use of racist or discriminatory language of all kinds with the strongest language. Lewis has led our sporting efforts to combat racism, and he is a true champion of diversity on and off the track, “the team statement read. “Together, we share a diverse and comprehensive vision of motorsport, and this incident underscores the fundamental importance of continuing to strive for a brighter future.”

Hamilton argued on Twitter Tuesday afternoon with both humor and powerful remarks.

Reply to fans who read the original tweet “What if Lewis Hamilton just tweeted?” Then did you close Twitter? Hamilton wrote: “Imagine.”

The 37-year-old woman then sent a message in Portuguese, “Focus on changing your mind,” and then posted a longer answer in English.

“It’s more than a language,” Hamilton writes. “These archaic ideas need to change and there is no place in our sport. I have been surrounded by these attitudes and targeted my life. I have a lot of time to learn. There is a lot of time to act. came.”

The racist nature of Pique’s words has shocked many F1 fans, but the fact that an older white ex-driver blamed Hamilton is not surprising. Regularly.

Hamilton has been increasingly campaigning on diversity issues over the past few years. He is a prominent supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement, and his Hamilton Commission was established to provide great opportunities for young blacks in STEM subjects.

Former McLaren drivers are also working with the Mercedes team to increase the diversity of the workforce, which, like other F1 paddock, is overwhelmingly white, male and heterosexual.
