Venus Williams to team up with Jamie Murray after shocking Wimbledon entry

Venus Williams has requested a last-minute game card in the Wimbledon mixed doubles match with partner and British player Jamie Murray.

The pair have never played together before, but were able to follow in the footsteps of their famous siblings Serena and Andy, who became fans favorites when they came together to the third round at the All England Club in 2019.

The older Williams sister’s presence at Wimbledon this year came as much of a shock as Serena’s sudden return to Eastbourne last week.

Williams, a five-time singles champion here, was on a long break from competitive tennis. She has not played on tour since last August and withdrew from the US Open due to a leg injury.

Addressing her potential participation in Wimbledon on social media last month by confirming that she has no plans to play in the third major, she wrote on Instagram: “No, I’m not playing, but I’ll watch, I will to Serena look. . ”

At 42, some had predicted that she might retire at retirement, and her decision not to compete for the main singles draw here suggested so much. But over the weekend, she waved her tongue at her intentions when she was seen practicing outside the tracks at the All England Club at Aorangi Park.
