Last week, Realme announced the GT2 Explorer Master flagship armed with the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and a custom design co-developed with fashion designer Jae-Jung. We have now received a review device and these are our first impressions before the review team gets to work on its tests.
Design is the one aspect that definitely sets the GT2 Explorer Master apart from other phones. We’ve got the Travel Trunk model on hand here and it has a distinct look inspired by the vintage luggage carriers. The phone has a light gray vegan leather back and copper brown elements and a flat metal frame. It is a solidly built device, although the weight is kept healthy at 195 grams.
There is a flat 6.7-inch OLED display on the front with FHD+ resolution, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a center punch hole for the 16 MP selfie camera. Realme also brings capacitive shoulder triggers on the side where the power button is housed. These buttons allow you to perform certain actions in games like driving a car, but oddly enough, there are no markers so you can miss the function completely.
The box consists of the phone, a black silicone case, a 100W Realme charger and a USB-C cable. The software side is covered by Realme UI 3.0 on top of Android 12, but as this is a China-exclusive release, you don’t get any Google services out of the box. That’s all for now, but keep an eye on our homepage for the full review of the Realme GT2 Explorer Master Edition.
