Pedestrian injured in Waikato Expressway incident ‘critical but stable’

Police said the incident took place in the Horsham Downs area of ​​the Waikato Expressway, about a mile north of Lake Road Bridge.

A person seriously injured on the Waikato Expressway Saturday night is in a critical but stable condition and the police investigation into the incident continues.

The pedestrian was seriously injured just after 12:15 p.m. on Saturday after being struck by a vehicle on the Waikato Expressway in Horsham Downs.

Police said on Saturday the incident happened about a mile north of the Lake Road Overbridge, on the north side.

It led to the road being closed for a scene investigation, before reopening later.

A police spokesperson told stuff that investigations into the incident were ongoing, and “no charge” [have been] placed on this point”.

They did not answer questions about whether the police spoke to the driver of the vehicle.

A spokesperson for Te Whatu Ora Waikato said: stuff the person injured in the incident was “critical but stable in the ICU” [intensive care unit]”.
