UK weather: Brits brace for thunderstorms combined with sunny spells after heat wave | Weather | News

According to the weather forecast, there will be more showers for most of today, but more sunny spells are expected to develop, especially in most eastern parts of the UK. The Met Office predicts weather on Sunday will be quite cloudy for many with the occasional shower or rain, especially in Northern Ireland and Scotland where heavy downpours and thunderstorms are possible.

Some southeastern parts of England will be hotter and brighter, he suggested.

The weather whirl comes days after the UK witnessed one of its deadliest heatwaves with temperatures exceeding 40C.

Ian Simpson predicts the coming weather netweather.tv said: “There could be some thunderstorms again over Northern Ireland, with more thunderstorms expected in Scotland and Northern England in the afternoon.

“It will remain dry with plenty of sunshine across much of southern England and East Anglia.

“It’s going to be another hot day in East Anglia and the South East with temperatures reaching well over 30 or 31 degrees, and generally the 20s in the Midlands.”

The coolest regions are Northern Ireland and Western Scotland where most places get around 20C.

As we progress, the weather will turn cooler early next week with a mix of sunshine and showers, although it will remain mostly dry in the south.

Mr Simpson continued: “On Monday there will be quite widespread showers, especially in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Northern England.

While it appears that the UK will experience even more warm weather from time to time, particularly in East Anglia and the South East, it seems unlikely that we will see a return to exceptional heat near 40°C in the near future.
