Apple Watch allegedly helped save Australian kayakers lost in the ocean

Australian kayakers called for help with the Apple Watch’s emergency call feature after strong tides stuck him in the ocean more than two miles from the shore.

A man from New South Wales was kayaked into the sea on June 18th around 9am local time.Report by TheDailyMail When he ran into trouble, he said a dangerous wave warning was valid for the area.

After leaving his partner, his ship drifted into the middle of the sea off the north coast of Sydney, where he was unable to return to the shore. At that time, the man sought help using the emergency service calling feature of his Apple Watch, according to rescue officials.

He was rescued by a member of New South Wales Surf Life Saving in response to a call from a state law enforcement agency around 9:30 am local time. A man on board a Westpack rescue helicopter showed signs of fatigue and mild hypothermia, but subsequently refused to see a doctor when the aircraft landed on Balmoral.

New South Wales police were able to contact a male partner who returned safely to the shore earlier in the day.

Apple Watch has enjoyed a reputation as an essential part of saving lives for users in dangerous situations.

In early November 2021, cyclists were able to seek emergency assistance after being hit by a car while riding a bicycle. In February 2022, a man with a head injury after falling off his bicycle was able to receive timely medical assistance. Most recently in June, a woman was rescued from the Columbia River after her foot got stuck between the rocks on the riverbed and then used her Apple Watch to ask for help.
