  • A quarter of 2,000 women prioritized making sure their partner was ‘obedient’
  • Only 12 percent of those in the Southwest said they’d ‘burgled’ their partner
  • Veronica Bowman, 36, from West Yorkshire, considers her other half well-educated

by eek! According to a study, no-nonsense Yorkshiremen are easiest to train and tame in the UK.

Nearly a third of women in a county famed for outspoken men like cricket legend Geoffrey Boycott, actor Sean Bean and TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson claim to have “broken in” to their male partner within a year of starting their relationship.

By comparison, just 12 percent of those surveyed in the South West said they had, compared to about a fifth in Scotland and Wales.

In the UK, about a quarter of the 2,000 women surveyed said making sure their spouse or partner was “obedient” and “easy to mold” was a top priority.

Among the traits indicative of obedience, respondents mentioned sharing household chores, limiting the length of pub visits, and taking home flowers and chocolates without being asked.

Mother of two Veronica Bowman, 36, of Keighley, West Yorkshire, considers herself one of those women who has trained her other half – in her case, construction foreman Mike – well.

“In the beginning, it was small steps, like making sure he took off his work boots as soon as he got home and was in the shower,” she said.

“I gradually ramped it up and soon he was doing the dishes, laundry and tumble drying and even making the kids their packed lunches.”

The survey, commissioned by natural dog treat brand Pooch Snax, found that more than half of the women surveyed treat their husbands like dogs.

‘Fifty-four percent look for the same qualities in a partner as in their dog’, says a spokesperson.

“One of the top qualities was being loyal, affectionate, funny and of course easy to train.”
