Rage Against the Machine has bodyguards who are actually TOO sharp as a hired eagle-eyed muscle tackled a fan who stormed onto the stage and one of the band members got nailed too.
It all went wrong in Toronto on Saturday night, when Rage played his last song – “Killing in the Name” – and a fan (in a red shirt) sprinted to the front of the stage but was blocked by security and flung into the crowd. .
The thing is…guitarist Tom Morello collateral damage. Security made contact with him and knocked him to the ground close enough to the edge of the stage that he fell off.
It was a tense moment as everyone waited to see if Tom was okay…after a dramatic pause he got up and waved to the crowd, who roared his approval!
Fact is… the security did its job and did it right. It happened very quickly, so there was no time for precision. It’s pretty funny… Saturday night at Madison Square Garden, Dave Chappelle cloned his security at the Hollywood Bowl when he was addressedtelling them to wear street shoes.
It has been a tough tour thus far. At the second stop, singer Zack de la Rocha injured in his legand has been sitting mostly during sets ever since.
