a

arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has backed Rob Holding to step up and again fill in for William Saliba To lead.

Saliba is out Saturday Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium due to a back injury sustained in the Europa League earlier this month.

Holding, who has only started one top-flight match this season, against Crystal Palace before the international break, is expected to continue this weekend in the Frenchman’s absence.

Thomas Partey is expected to be fit for Arsenal after missing Ghana’s draw with Angola on Monday. Striker Gabriel Jesus is also committed to starting after working on the training pitch during the international break.

“He’s very close to that (100 percent). In the last 10 days, he’s really taken a big step forward,” Arteta said of Jesus.

“You can see he’s loosened up, he doesn’t think about it. You can see that during training he creates all that chaos that he can create at unique moments. He is now in a very good place.”
