Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh’s sexual harassment against RTÉ begins tomorrow

The sexual harassment case against RTÉ by Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh will begin tomorrow at the Workplace Relations Committee (WRC).

I have Whole country The host claims she was sexually harassed, damaged and isolated while working at the station.

Nee Chofay will provide evidence of what she said at this week’s hearing, but the suspect remains anonymous at the WRC’s order.

She filed a complaint with the broadcaster under the Employment Equality Act. She claims discrimination due to harassment in July 2019 and subsequent damage.

At the preliminary hearing in May, Mairéad McKenna BL, who appeared on the air station, said:

“My position is to instruct people not to name them if they continue in public. [alleged] Practitioner. What we really want is [alleged] Perpetrator. “

Ms. McKenna said RTÉ is asking the press to instruct the media not to identify the suspect in the event of a lawyer’s “slip-up” during the hearing process.

The arbitrator, Breiffni O’Neill, agreed to this course of action.

Ms Ní Chofaigh did not attend the hearing in May, but was represented by Claire Bruton BL, directed by Daniel Spring Solicitors Aileen Fleming and Jack Gibson.

Ms. Bruton said “it was okay” by instructing the media not to appoint the suspect, but “my client was very hoping that the issue would go on in public. I have. “

She referred to an internal investigation report in which three individuals were nominated. One of them is a “public figure”.

Ms. Bruton said her client was sacrificed and “on the sidelines in the office” after raising the issue.

She said she would call a few witnesses in addition to Mr. Nee Chofai, who would need at least three hours to submit direct evidence.

O’Neill said aspects of the alleged comments made after the photo shoot must be heard in a private session.
