vivo quietly launched a basic 5G phone in Thailand today. Dubbed the vivo Y30 5Git is already available through various stores and carriers in the country.
vivo Y30 5G in Rainbow Fantasy and Starlight Black
The phone is powered by the Dimension 700 chipset, which is paired with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Both are expandable with virtual RAM (+2GB) and a microSD card (up to 1TB), respectively. The phone runs FuntouchOS 12 (based on Android 12) out of the box.
It has a 6.51-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. This is one of the few things that sets it apart from the Y55 5G, which has a 6.58-inch FHD+ display, for example. Anyway, notched in this screen is the 8 MP selfie camera, which can be used for face ID. Alternatively, the side-mounted fingerprint reader is also available for secure unlocking.
On the back there is a 50 MP camera and a 2 MP depth sensor (the Y55 5G also has a 2 MP macro camera). The phone is available in Starlight Black and “Rainbow Fantasy” (an aqua/peach gradient).
The phone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery, which only supports 10W charging. At least you get a charger and USB-C cable in the box, plus a protective case and screen protector.
The vivo Y30 5G supports several 5G bands: n1, n3, n28, n40, n41 and n78 (at least for the model in Thailand). It has a dual SIM tray, although the second slot can be replaced with a microSD. Additional wireless connectivity includes dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, the main satellite positioning systems and an FM radio receiver (yes, there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom).
The vivo Y30 5G is already available in Thailand. Retailer AIS sells it for THB 8,700 ($240/€230/₹19,000). You can also pick one up from local carriers WHERE and support. We don’t know if and when the Y30 5G will be available in other regions, but vivo has no shortage of Dimension 700 phones (including the aforementioned Y55 5G and the Y75 5G, that is almost the same).
