HAVING rude neighbors can stink. One woman shared the complaint she received from someone in her apartment building.
The strongly worded letter urged her to do something about the pet odor coming from her apartment.
The Redditor opened up in a viral post about the “rude note” that caused a fight with the neighbors.
She shared a photo of the message, handwritten in bright pink ink.
“Excuse me, Miss Girl!” her neighbor began.
“I noticed there's a slight odor in the hallway. I'm sorry to inform you that you and your house smell like cat pee!” they continued.
The neighbor demanded that she take steps to get rid of the smell.
“Would you please put a diaper on your cat? Or buy nose plugs for those who suffer from this horrendous, eye-watering, tingling nose-hairing, mouth-gagging, fish-clenching, stomach-turning smell,” they said.
“Kind regards, management. PS Sorry for the loud gagging.”
The Redditor was disappointed that their neighbor didn't approach her directly.
“I didn't have the decency to speak in person. I'm usually home all day but instead I left a rude note,” they said.
'We know the management; he appointed us as managers of the parking lot, weeding, shoveling snow, spreading salt in winter.
“I could just as easily have emailed management to complain, but chose to do so. Both the manager and owner have our emails, and management has my [fiance’s] phone number and knows our names.
“And if I can walk into my laundry room to do our laundry without gagging, I don't know what your problem is.
“I am the one responsible for cleaning our litter boxes. I put baking soda in them to cover up the smell and we use scented cat litter. Our cats are not allowed to leave the apartment.
There were mixed reactions from viewers about the note.
How to get rid of cat pee smell
The smell of cat pee is notoriously difficult to remove due to the stubborn enzymes it contains.
According to Catsanthose who are serious about getting rid of the odor should invest in a specialized cat urine cleaner.
“If you don't have specialized enzymatic cleaners on hand, try cleaning the area with vinegar first before rinsing and applying diluted dish soap to help remove the cat urine odor,” the site explains.
“You can also combine 50% white vinegar (or apple cider vinegar) with 50% water to gently clean the urine stain.”
For those looking for a quick and easy solution, cat enzyme cleaners are both effective and safe for use around cats.
Some sided with the angry neighbor, insisting the smell was worse than she thought because she was used to it.
“Change the kitty litter,” one demanded.
“The note may be a little rude, but I would take the message seriously,” said another.
Cat owners have recommended their favorite brands of cat litter to help solve the problem.
“Shout it out [to the] The world's best cat litter,” said one commenter.
“The best thing I've ever used to block odor. And… [as] others have noted that your tolerance for the smell is [possibly] higher than the others.”
