A man is in a serious condition after a road traffic collision between a car and an e-scooter in Dublin.

The rider of the e-scooter, a man in his 20s, was taken to St James's Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

A Garda spokesman confirmed the collision occurred at around 3.20am this morning at Usher's Quay, Dublin 8.

Commuters in Dublin may experience delays this morning.

Usher's Quay was closed from Mellows Bridge to Father Matthew Bridge with diversions in place while members were on site, while traffic remained heavy in surrounding areas.

This road has now been fully reopened for use.

Dublin Bus confirmed that diversions are in place on a number of routes, but operations are returning to normal.

There are also delays for motorists on the M50 between Junction 4 and Junction 12, southbound, with delays northbound between Junction 9 and Junction 7.

Other routes approaching Dublin and experiencing delays include the M3 eastbound, the M4 eastbound, the M7 eastbound and the M11 northbound.
