I'm 27 and have been living off-the-grid for four months – I've never been happier, but my sister is spreading rumors about me

LIVING off the grid isn't for everyone, but one woman said she couldn't be happier with her decision.

Her family, on the other hand, appeared to have little understanding of her unconventional home and lifestyle.

Redditor YakEuphoric1189 shared the family drama in a viral post.

“I've been off-grid for four months now. Last month I talked about it with my twin sister (whom I trust deeply),” she said.

“We just turned 27 and she has a similar mentality about escaping the system, but isn't ready to take the plunge yet.”

Although her twin sister empathized with her, other family members did not take kindly to her decision.

“Recently, one of my other sisters gossiped that she thinks I'm 'homeless,'” she said.

“Now my entire family continues to contact me in a concerned manner, thinking they are helping.”

She explained that the situation left behind has only caused her problems.

“They don't know that I'm the happiest I've ever been, and their contact just stresses me out,” she said.

“I don't need their negative/different view of the world to pull me back into the system.

“Those who have had a similar situation, what do you suggest?”

Many who were in similar trouble when they went offline shared their advice.

One person responded verbatim to her concerned family.

“My lifestyle is not for everyone, and their lifestyle is not for me. If you are genuinely concerned or interested [in] Me and my life, let's plan a visit,” they said.

“When people actually have to make an effort to substantiate their expressions of 'concern,' they usually live and let live,” they explained.

“Most of the time I just acknowledge their ignorance and realize that I'm too busy educating people about something they won't take seriously or care about.”

'Let them be wrong. We're too busy being great.'

Others felt that sometimes offers of help should be considered, especially when money is involved.

“If they offer money, take it,” said one commenter.

'I came here to say exactly this. If they even remotely say they're sending you financial help, take advantage of it,” another agreed.

“Hell, I'd actively ask for it from those who won't leave you alone the first time you say that.”
