The legend of Major Neighbors returns – and it's a good one | Soaps

Neighbors have confirmed the return of one of their most iconic characters, as Sky Mangel (Stephanie McIntosh) returns to Ramsay Street.

Stephanie, 38, played Sky regularly for four years between 2003 and 2007, before making regular guest appearances for anniversaries and in the 2022 season finale.

The role was was created by actress Miranda Fryer in 1989.

In her last major storyline, she reconnected with Lana Crawford (Bridget Neval) and got married at the Lassiter's Wedding Expo. The two attended Erinsborough High together and shared the show's first lesbian kiss.

Announcing the news on Instagram, Neighbors said: 'Sky Mangel returns to Ramsay Street! Hot on the heels of Harold… Sky comes over to visit her dear old grandpa.

“But what else brought her back to Erinsborough? Stephanie McIntosh will be reprising her beloved role in the coming weeks.”

News of her return comes just days before '80s icons Harold Bishop (Ian Smith) and Hilary Robinson (Anne Scott Pendlebury) return to the Amazon Freevee soap.

Harold and Hilary will be seen this week as they settle into their new apartments in the Eirini Rising retirement development.

It's clear her final stint will be as a guest star, but executive producer Jason Herbison has announced more returns in the future.

Talking to Australians Television tonighthe said: 'Terese Willis has been on a journey this season to open a dream project, the Eirini Rising retirement community.

“She is redeveloping part of the high school and the two institutions will sit next to each other, with the younger generation interacting with the seniors,”

“It has also been an ambition of mine to organically reintroduce some of the older cast members from yesteryear, who I believe still have so much to offer.”
