Redditor Not a paleontologist8449 asked the question on the social media platform.

“How can I grow back natural eyelashes after extensions?” she wrote.

Like many beauty fans, she discovered that the cosmetic treatment left her natural hair a bit weaker than before.

“I started getting extensions for the first time a few months ago and I just stopped adding them because I noticed my natural lashes were pretty much gone,” she said.

“Is this normal? Are there any tips for regrowth?”

COME TO THE RESCUE

A professional eyelash artist came by with advice on how to get natural eyelashes back to their former state.

“Hi, lash artist of 11 years here, and I just wanted to first say that you can use a serum to grow your lashes, but you have to be careful which one you choose,” she said.

“Some of these have irreversible side effects, such as skin and eye discoloration/color change.”

The professional offered her favorite product to regrow eyelashes.

“The best one is called RevitaLash. If you buy it in California, it's called RevitaBrow,” she said.

RevitaLash Advanced is available from Revitalash Cosmetics for $59 for a six-week supply.

However, the professional said she wouldn't immediately go for the big guns.

“Personally, I would say just let your natural lashes grow back without using serums,” she said.

HOW TO CHOOSE A LASH TECH

The lash artist also gave some recommendations for looking for a lash technician in the future.

She recommended finding “an artist who uses some type of magnification to create eyelashes, preferably surgical loupes.”

The professional said the surgical loupe technique can help with eyelash loss.

“If you're lucky enough to find a tech who uses surgical loupes, it significantly reduces damage because they can see every hair like a surgeon would,” she said.

“Damage can also occur if multiple natural lashes are glued together, each natural lash is in its own growth cycle.

“So let's say three lashes are glued together and two of the lashes are ready to grow, then that third lash will slowly and painfully be pulled out prematurely. This is how 80% of the damage occurs.

“A customer can contribute to this by not washing their eyelashes every day.

“Eyelashes can stick together with eye mucus, blepharitis and makeup – and just like the glue – [those] can cause you to lose eyelashes prematurely.”
