Commuters are experiencing major delays in Dublin this evening as the northbound M1 remains closed due to a vehicle fire.

Dublin Fire Brigade has been battling the blaze for several hours as units try to bring a truck fire under control.

The fire broke out between J4 Donabate and J5 Balbriggan South.

Footage shared by the DFB showed firefighters extinguishing the vehicle, which appeared to be filled with rubbish.

The road has been completely closed since around 4 p.m., causing major delays for commuter traffic during the evening rush hour.

“Our Manitou teleporter has been used with good effect to remove the burning debris so that it can be extinguished and cooled,” the Dublin Fire Brigade said on X.
