Emmerdale spoilers: Dawn gets devastating news about Evan | Soaps

Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) is painfully aware of Evan's chances of a normal childhood in Emmerdale.

Her nerves are already on edge, and her exhaustion has caused her to emotionally distance herself from husband Billy (Jay Kontzle). The last thing she needs is terrible news on her plate.

Unfortunately, there's much more to come when she finds out what Mother Rose (Christine Tremarco) is up to. But before that there is serious bad news about Evan as his condition dramatically worsens.

Dawn discovers that baby Evan's temperature has risen after his chemotherapy, indicating an infection that could be fatal. Dawn is on the cutting edge and pounces on Billy as soon as he arrives at the hospital, desperate to know if the germs could have come from the children.

Dawn is in a terrible state, and so does Billy who follows her accusations.

This sets wheels in motion that will also leave their other two children, Clemmie and Lucas, devastated.

They learn that they are no longer allowed to attend school for fear of endangering Evan further, and that they must essentially live in a bubble. Billy is just as vulnerable as Dawn and collapses on Will (Daan Andries) about the enormity of trying to keep Evan safe while also being a good father to all his children.

Rose, who reveals herself to the viewer as being in cahoots with Ruby (Beth Cordingly), sees a golden opportunity when the exhausted Dawn needs someone to talk to. She gets Dawn alone and offers her the two things she needs; a cognac and a listening ear.

But just as smug Rose is getting comfortable, Will catches her right before disaster and offers recovering addict Dawn strong sleeping pills. This completely disrupts Rose's plans.

Kim (Claire King) and Will both give Rose barrels for taking advantage of the vulnerable Dawn, causing her to sneak back to Ruby and warn that their plan is going off the rails.

But she is told in no uncertain terms that she has to go back and get to work on getting things back on track.

How will delicate Dawn cope when she discovers the truth about her mother's appearance in the village?
