Mass brawl leaves 22 people hospitalized and 25 people arrested | UK | News

A mass brawl involving around dozens of men reportedly armed with 'machetes' has resulted in 25 arrests and 22 hospitalisations.

In a video uploaded to social media, one person suggested there may have been as many as 50 people present at the incident in Sheffield on Saturday, May 25.

South Yorkshire Police attended Woodbourn Road at around 2.25pm ​​following reports of a “large group of people fighting in the street”.

They say 22 people remain in hospital following the incident, although their condition is not considered life-threatening.

The 25 arrested were suspected of “multiple violent crimes”.

Officers say a cordon was in place at the scene, with Woodbourn Road closed between Worthing Road and Parkway Avenue in Sheffield.

Chief Inspector Simon Wanless, of South Yorkshire Police, said: 'Officers worked throughout the night at the crime scene on Woodbourn Road and carried out extensive inquiries including CCTV footage.

“I would strongly encourage anyone with information about the incident to come forward. If you were in the area around the time of the incident and have camera, video or dashcam footage, please contact us.

“You will see an increased police presence in the area today and in the coming days.

“If anyone has any concerns or questions please stop and speak to the officers, they are there to help you.”
