Bruce Springsteen has thanked his Irish fans for “very memorable shows” after having to cancel several European performances.

The American singer (74) canceled some concerts on his European tour due to “vocal problems”.

The American star released a video on social media thanking Irish fans for “great times” during the Irish performances.

“I would like to thank our Irish fans, our British fans and our fans in Wales for putting on a series of shows that were very memorable and we had some great times,” he said.

He also addressed fans in other European cities where their shows were postponed, saying he will “be back.”

“Unfortunately I couldn't sing for you, but we will come back to Marseille, to Prague and to Milan to give you the show of a lifetime that I promised you,” he said.

“We'll come back to Madrid and Barcelona, where we plan to rock you into the ground.”

The rock star and his E Street Band played Sunderland's Stadium of Light in Britain last Wednesday after a series of concerts in Ireland last week.

Their first Irish stop was Kilkenny on May 12, followed by Cork on May 16 and then ending in Dublin's Croke Park on May 19.

Last Thursday, Springsteen was honored at the Ivor Novello Awards in London and received a Fellowship of The Ivors Academy from The Beatles legend Paul McCartney.

Bruce was previously named the first international songwriter to be inducted into the fellowship before the ceremony took place.

On Saturday, the American star announced that the performance in Marseille will be postponed due to “vocal problems”.

“Further investigation and consultation have led to doctors deciding that Bruce will not be allowed to perform for the next ten days,” his Instagram account said in a statement.

“Additional postponement is needed for Letnany Airport in Prague (originally scheduled for May 28) and San Siro Stadium in Milan (originally scheduled for June 1 and 3).

“New dates for these shows will be announced soon.

“Those seeking a refund may obtain one at their original point of purchase.”

His European tour will now resume in Madrid on June 12.
