A man has been arrested following an incident in Dublin's Parnell Square involving “alleged threatening behaviour”.

The Irish man (30 years old) reportedly brandished a knife outside a school but was denied entry.

The incident took place around 9am this morning.

He is currently in custody at a Garda station in central Dublin.

Gardaí say he has been arrested for alleged offenses under the Firearms and Weapons Act.

Although no injuries have been reported, gardaí said they have been conducting regular patrols in this area and these patrols will continue.

“Gardaí are liaising with the local community and anyone affected by the incident,” Gardaí added.
