Sofía Vergara opened up about the possibility of one Modern family meeting.
In a recent episode of The Hollywood Reporter'S Awards Chatter podcast hosted by awards executive editor Scott Feinberg, the 51-year-old actress revealed her hopes for another run with Gloria Delgado-Pritchett.
“I mean, I would do it in a heartbeat,” Vergara said when asked about one Modern family revival. “Of course I would.”
The actress said that despite it having only been four years since the show ended, she would participate in a revival “just for the experience of doing it again,” noting that she wasn't sure if it would be “good or bad' would be.
Elsewhere in the conversation, the Hot chase star spoke candidly about how 'Narco Traffic' affected her childhood experiences growing up in Colombia.
“I grew up in Colombia in the '70s, '80s and '90s, and as you know that was the time when the Narco traffic unfortunately affected the lives of everyone in Colombia,” Vergara said. “Those were really hard times for the country, for families.”
The actress said the situation was “very bad” at the time, noting that “a lot of kidnappings and bombings were happening.” Vergara said her brother “came to work at that company in the 1990s” and “was murdered very young.”
“It was heartbreaking, but it didn't just happen to me, it happened to a lot of people in Colombia,” she continued.
Earlier this year, Vergara portrayed Griselda Blanco, the Colombian drug lord, also known as the 'godmother of cocaine', in the Netflix limited series Griselda. The actress noted that her personal experiences and the experiences of other families in Columbia drew her to the project.
Vergara's first reaction when she heard about Blanco was, “What are they talking about?” There is no way a woman can do what these vile men can do. There is no such thing,” she said, adding that she had never heard of Blanco, which caused her initial disbelief.
“We knew everyone. We grew up listening to their names at dinner, in the news, in the newspaper,” Vergara said. “That's what it was all about for all those decades.”
She was 'fascinated' by it Blanco's storyShe noted, but she was a little concerned. “I was nervous because I didn't want to romanticize this character, this woman,” she said. “But I was super interested because, like I said, I knew who these men were,” she continued.
