Rian Johnson's Netflix sequel adds Andrew Scott to cast

Rian Johnson's third Knives out film continues to expand its cast.

Andrew Scott joins the growing list of artists for the latest film in the crime franchise, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Last week, director Johnson announced the title of the film as Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.

Scott joins previously confirmed cast members Daniel Craig, Josh O'Connor and Cailee Spaeny in the project that counts Johnson and Ram Bergman as producers.

Netflix announced last week that the third film will follow a new murder mystery in a yet-to-be-revealed setting and feature another colorful array of suspects who catch the attention of returning detective Benoit Blanc (Craig).

Scott recently starred in the Netflix series Ripleywith the adaptation of author Patricia Highsmith's 1955 novel The talented Mr. Ripley debuted last month. Scott was seen in the drama film last year All of us strangers and is also known for roles in the series Flea bag And Are dark materials.

In a after on X (formerly Twitter) last week Johnson revealed that Knives out 3 would go into production soon. He also noted on the social media platform at the time, “I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is.”

The first film of 2019 Knives out was released by Lionsgate and surpassed $310 million at the worldwide box office. It featured an ensemble cast including Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Plummer.

THR previously reported that Netflix was stepping up its game more than 450 million dollars for a few sequels. His first sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mysteryarrived on the streaming service in 2022 and, in addition to Craig, also starred Edward Norton, Janelle MonĂ¡e, Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista.
