Chelsea Great Pat Nevin believes a number of Chelsea loan stars will feel they have an 'excellent' chance of being part of the first team next season.
The Blues said goodbye to Mauricio Pochettino last week with the Argentine leaving Stamford Bridge after just one season in charge.
Moving quickly to appoint a successor, Enzo Maresca is now ready to take over as the new head coach.
Chelsea's young squad struggled to score at times last season, but finished the 2023/24 season strongly with Cole Palmer led the charge during his exciting first campaign at the club.
A handful of other youngsters failed to impress under Pochettino, while Ian Maatsen and Armando Broja failed to impress before leaving on loan in January. Maatsen had a great spell in Germany, helping Dortmund reach the Champions League final, while Broja had an unforgettable spell at Fulham.
Omari Hutchinson, Cesare Casadei and Andrey Santos are among the other Chelsea stars to have enjoyed impressive spells at the club, hoping to find their way into the West London team.
Nevin, who played more than 200 games for the club, doubts there will be many Chelsea players who would have been relieved when Pochettino left.
But the former Blues star believes some of the on-loan players will now take their chance to impress under a new manager.
Nevin assesses which players could see their chances now that Pochettino is gone Metro.nl through Spider genius: “The vast majority of players not in the team are injured.
'You don't know who would be relieved. If Poch had everyone fit for the whole season I could give you six names in my head because they don't start every week.
'A player like Raheem would feel that he hasn't been a big player for Pochettino lately, but he won't be too upset because that's not his personality. It will only be the loaned players who now think: 'Great, I have an excellent chance of being part of the team next season'.
'Footballers are selfish and they have to be successful, that's the deal. It's the opposite of my personality in general, but it's also human nature and necessary in football.”
