Southampton offer McCarthy a contract

Southampton are on the verge of offering Alex McCarthy a new contract after his shock role in winning promotion.

The experienced goalkeeper, 34, is out of contract at the end of this month and had expected to leave St Mary's after barely making any appearances as a substitute until mid-April.

McCarthy had fallen out of favor at Southampton but was remarkably catapulted into the squad for a midweek match against Preston when first-choice Gavin Bazunu ruptured his Achilles tendon in the warm-up.

The former Reading and Crystal Palace man has interest from four other Premier League clubs and one from Saudi Arabia.

However, having expected to leave, he is now open to a new deal on the south coast.

The club is already doing its best to reach a deal, but McCarthy wants certainty about playing time as he has been out in the cold for most of this season and is not interested in a one-year contract.

Money management

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna is set to make a mega-money tie-up with the Tractor Boys, amid interest from a number of top Premier League clubs.

The new deal means only six Prem bosses earn more than the former Manchester Utd assistant.

Lallana is ready for Saints' homecoming

Adam Lallana will reportedly return to Southampton following his departure from Brighton.

Lallana will be a free agent next month when his contract with Brighton expires – the star spent four years at the Seagulls.

And after Southampton's promotion to the Premier League, The Athletics have reported that Lallana will rejoin his old club.

The 36-year-old came through the youth ranks at Southampton and spent eight years as a player for the club before signing for Liverpool in 2014.

More about Maresca

Enzo Maresca's five-year deal will also reportedly include an option to extend for another year until 2030.

The 44-year-old, who was previously an assistant under Pep Guardiola, impressed at Leicester and will now be part of a long-term project for Chelsea.

Maresca took charge at the King Power Stadium last summer and guided Leicester back to the Premier League at the first ask.

BREAKING – Maresca agrees to Chelsea deal

Enzo Maresca has agreed to become Chelsea's new boss.

The Leicester manager will leave the Foxes and sign a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues will pay Leicester £10 million in compensation to get the deal over the line.

Saudi Arabia wants former Arsenal duo

Saudi Pro League team Al-Shabab are looking for a new striker and have two former Arsenal stars on their list.

According to L'Equipe, Al-Shabab is working to convince Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to leave Marseille for the Middle East.

While it is also said that the Saudi club have also included Alexandre Lacazette, who currently plies his trade with Lyon, on their list.
