Erik ten Hag's troops ran out 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Alejandro Garnacho And Kobbie Mainoo.

No one saw a United win materializing, although some Old Trafford stalwarts believe the writing was on the wall as the teams reached their respective arrivals at Wembley.

United's stars arrived at English's home ground football dressed and dressed as if they were heading to a wedding.

However, City's players were dressed incredibly casually for the match, turning up in a T-shirt and jeans.

And after seeing footage of the team's respective finishes, United fans think City went into the match too confidently.

One wrote on X: “We won before the game started.. the difference in class.”

Another said: “They thought it would be easy until we showed up with style.”

And another said: “That city team match is shocking.”

Erik ten Hag's record as Man Utd boss

The Red Devils' pre-match confidence was boosted by personalized messages from their partners, which they received at the team hotel on Friday when they arrived in London.

They were then, according to the Daily emailsurprised with video messages of support from their friends and family WhatsApp.

Despite having his troops firing on all cylinders against City, SunSport understands Ten Hag FA Cup triumph NOT save him from the axe.

The Red Devils' brass decided weeks ago that the final would be the Dutchman's last match.

But Johnny Evans hopes the club makes a U-turn, saying: “I hope so.

“He has been great for me this season and has brought me back.

“I have only good things to say about him and I think he has shown incredible tactical flexibility over the past month.”

When asked directly whether he wanted Ten Hag to stay, Evans said: “He has been great to me and I can only thank him for that and I have a good relationship with him.

“So I hope he stays.”
