Hollyoaks legend Ross Adams has announced that he is to fly to Britain to film his final scenes.

The actor, who first started playing Scott Drinkwell in the Channel 4 soap in 2014, announced to Us in March that he would be leaving later in the year.

Ross used the announcement that the show would reduce its broadcast pattern as a sign to move on, and it's clear he's not one of them the reported 20 cast members who will leave this fall in a first jump into the British soap, which will send Oaks' action skyrocketing a year into the future.

He told us that producers Lime Pictures did offer him a contract extension: 'They [Hollyoaks] were kind enough to offer me a new contract, but last year I made a documentary about adoption and I really enjoyed doing that.

“It was kind of an opportunity for me to do a little bit of presenting, which is something I've always wanted to do, but also to do something like me.

“A lot of people know Scott as a character, but not a lot of people know Ross. That documentary gave me a bit of a taste for it.

After playing Scott for so long, you feel comfortable. I would have loved to stay there forever, but I think sometimes you have to push yourself.”

He continued, “If I'm 100% honest, with the news we got recently that we were going to three episodes, it felt like maybe this was the push I needed to start and think about something else.

“I'm terrified, I really am, but it was one of those moments where I thought, it's now or never, so I'm going to try.”

Scott has signed on to star in The Good Ship Murder (Picture: Lime Pictures)

He has been ever since drawn on the dotted line to appear in the next series of Channel 5 drama The Good Ship Murder.

The show, starring Coronation Street actors Catherine Tyldsley, Shayne Ward and Claire Sweeney, has recently been revived for a further two series and a Christmas special.

Ross shared a video of himself flying back to the UK this morning (May 29) on to film on @Hollyoaks. Friday.'

Since the show is filmed about six to eight weeks in advance, it may be a while before we see these scenes play out, and it hasn't yet been confirmed how Scott will leave the town of Chester.

He recently captured the younger Freya Calder (Ellie Henry) after her father Carter Shepherd (David Ames) was sent to prison for trying to kidnap Lucas Hay (Oscar Curtis) and for driving John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) into a van had bundled him up and forced him to be 'baptized' at a lake.
